Gov. Inslee presents plan for creating jobs and boosting economy

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee announced his plans Wednesday for creating jobs and boosting the state economy.

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee on Wednesday proposed initiatives in five focus areas to help revitalize the state?s economy and create new jobs.

His proposals were in the following five areas: education; regulatory changes for business; an emphasis on the aerospace industry; an emphasis on clean energy and water; and health-care reform.

The economy was a major theme for Inslee during his gubernatorial campaign and in his inauguration speech.

Inslee announced his plan Wednesday afternoon from Olympia.

Inslee also called for a comprehensive transportation agenda, saying he will work closely with lawmakers in the next few weeks to build a new plan. He envisions a transportation network that includes roads, transit, bike routes and other modes of transportation to help free capacity for freight and commerce.
